What Time Does GTA 6 Unlock in Your Timezone?

GTA 6 unlocks at midnight local time on November 19, 2026 in most countries, so there is no single global launch moment. The official PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store listings show the rollout starting in New Zealand at 11:00 UTC on November 18 and reaching Mexico at 06:00 UTC on November 19, a spread of 19 hours.

The detail most people miss is the US. The US store listings use one time for the whole country, midnight Eastern, so the West Coast plays at 9pm Pacific on November 18 instead of waiting for its own midnight.

What time does GTA 6 unlock?

For most countries it is midnight local time on November 19, 2026. The game rolls out region by region rather than switching on everywhere at once. New Zealand goes first at 11:00 UTC on November 18, and Mexico unlocks at 06:00 UTC on November 19, per the regional PlayStation Store listings. The Microsoft Store listings we checked (New Zealand, Australia, India, UK and US) show the same times.

The US and Canada are the exception to "your own midnight." Both store listings set them to midnight Eastern, 05:00 UTC, so every US timezone unlocks at the same moment. That settles the earlier conflict between reports of a rolling US launch and a single 05:00 UTC unlock: the rest of the world rolls, North America unlocks together.

GTA 6 unlock times by region

Source: release times on the regional PlayStation Store listings (New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Singapore, India, UAE, Germany, France, UK, Brazil, Argentina, US, Canada, Mexico) and the Microsoft Store listings for New Zealand, Australia, India, the UK and the US, checked November 4, 2026. US Central and Pacific rows are converted from the US listing.

If your region is not listed, find your UTC offset and assume local midnight, then check your own store page, which is what actually controls your unlock. A September 8, 2026 report counted 15 regional windows in total.

When does pre-load start in my timezone?

Rockstar moved pre-load up to Tuesday, November 10, 2026 in its November 3 Newswire post. The timing differs by console, per that post:

• PS5: midnight local time on November 10, so New Zealand starts first, just like launch.
• Xbox Series X|S: 12am GMT on November 10 for everyone, which is 7pm ET and 4pm PT on November 9, and 5:30am IST on November 10.
• Boxed copies: code-in-box copies reach retailers from November 12, and you can pre-load once the code is redeemed.

Pre-loading only gets the files ready. Nobody plays before their region's unlock time on November 19.

The New Zealand trick and what it does

On Xbox, you can change your console region to New Zealand and play early, per a September 7, 2026 report. The New Zealand Microsoft Store listing shows 11:00 UTC on November 18, which is 6am ET or 3am PT on November 18. On PlayStation it is harder, because the unlock is tied to your account region. You would need a New Zealand account plus a gift card to buy from that region, which is a lot of effort for a few hours.

Treat the trick as a workaround, not a supported feature. It can also cause payment or region issues, and the game still has to be bought and downloaded on the account you use.

Is the rollout confirmed?

Yes, as far as the stores are concerned. The times above are the release times on the official PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store listings, which are what unlock your copy. Rockstar has not published its own per-region table, and store times can still change in launch week, so check your listing the night before.
