GTA 6 comes in two editions: Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99. Both include the full game, and Ultimate adds premium vehicles, weapons, and apparel threaded through the Jason and Lucia story, per Rockstar's editions page, June 24, 2026. The real question is whether the extra $20 is worth it, and whether you can still change your mind.
The detail most people miss is that the pre-order bonus is not an Ultimate perk. The Vintage Vice City Pack comes with both editions for any purchase before November 20, 2026, so the bonus is not the reason to pay more.
What is in each edition
Standard is the full base game, nothing less. Ultimate is the base game plus a set of premium extras that Rockstar describes as threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story.
The Ultimate Edition listings on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store name the contents, including a '95 Grotti Cheetah, the Hawk and Little Morgan revolvers, a Shitzu Squalo watercraft, a '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and garage, a Classic Car Collection side commission, a PTT Youngin$ compound to raid, and access to five Ultimate-only destinations: Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo and One-Eyed Willie's. These are vehicles, gear, cosmetics and side content layered on top of the same story, not a different ending.
There is no third tier. Forbes reported on June 24, 2026 that "those are the only two editions, confirmed by Take-Two, with no Collector's or Deluxe tier." If you see a Collector's Edition or a Deluxe tier of the game listed anywhere, it is not real. The one collector's product Rockstar sells is the $399.99 Vice City Collection box on the Rockstar Store, which is merchandise only: the store page says the game is sold separately.
How much each edition costs
| Region | Standard | Ultimate |
|---|---|---|
| US | $79.99 | $99.99 |
| UK | £69.99 | £89.99 |
| Eurozone | €79.99 | €99.99 |
| India | Rs 5,999 | Rs 7,499 |
US prices were announced by Take-Two on June 24, 2026, and every row above matches the PlayStation Store listings checked on November 4, 2026 (Eurozone prices from the German and French stores). The Microsoft Store lists the same US, UK and India prices. Earlier FNAC Portugal listings of 89.99, 119.99, and 199.99 were placeholders, not final, per a June 23, 2026 report.
One question people keep asking is whether one console charges more than the other. The store prices are the same on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in the US, UK and India, so there is no platform split.
Is the Ultimate Edition worth it?
Ultimate is a cosmetics and starter-gear pack. If you care about owning the named vehicles, weapons, and salon early, it is a straightforward $20 upgrade. If you mainly want the story, Standard gives you the same game.
Reader interest in the higher tier is clearly strong. A September 2026 reader poll found 70 percent planned to buy the Ultimate Edition over Standard, and asked whether GTA 6 is effectively the first $100 video game. Treat that as a poll of intent, not a sales figure.
The value call is yours, but two facts help. First, the Vintage Vice City Pack is not exclusive to Ultimate, so you are not missing the headline bonus by choosing Standard. Second, Rockstar lets you upgrade later, so you do not have to decide before launch.
The Vintage Vice City Pack deadline
The Vintage Vice City Pack is the pre-order incentive, and it comes with both editions. The Rockstar Store gives it to orders placed before November 20, 2026, the PlayStation Store to digital pre-orders or purchases by November 19, 2026, and the Microsoft Store to purchases before 23:59:59 on November 19, 2026. It includes a 55 Vapid Stanier and the Shore Court garage near Ocean Beach, a linen suit and decade hair for Jason, a red sequin mini dress and curls for Lucia, and a Tommy Vercetti palm-tree weapon pattern, per a June 24, 2026 report.
Two conditions matter:
- On physical copies, the pack is only guaranteed while supplies last, per a June 24, 2026 report.
- Digital pre-orders and purchases on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store add one free month of GTA+, but a boxed code does not, per an August 9, 2026 report.
The free GTA+ month auto-renews, so cancel the renewal before it ends. On PlayStation it must be claimed by March 31, 2027, and on Xbox within 180 days of the pre-order, per the store listings. The PlayStation Store notes that the Ultimate Edition Upgrade on its own does not qualify for the offer. For what is physically in the box, see our GTA 6 physical edition guide.
How to upgrade from Standard to Ultimate
Rockstar says the "Ultimate Edition Upgrade will also be available to purchase separately at any time" on the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store, after the code is redeemed. So you can start on Standard and add the extras later without buying the game twice.
The upgrade price is reported at £20 in the UK by a gift-card retailer on September 3, 2026. The PlayStation Store upgrade listing shows no price yet (checked November 4, 2026), so treat that figure as reported, not confirmed.
How to cancel a GTA 6 pre-order
Cancellation rules differ by where you bought:
- Rockstar Store physical: cancel through the Xsolla pre-order page, per Rockstar's pre-order support FAQ.
- PlayStation digital: if you pre-ordered more than 14 days before release and the main download has not started, you can cancel any time up to release. Orders paid within 14 days of release are cancellable up to 14 days after payment, per PlayStation's cancellation policy.
- Xbox digital: cancel in your Microsoft account Order history. If the Cancel option is missing, you have probably been billed, and Microsoft Support says to contact Microsoft Store Support or use the Xbox refund request form.
The trap is pre-loading. PlayStation's policy ends the cancellation right once you start downloading, "including pre-loading before release," and pre-load now opens on November 10, so automatic downloads can trigger it that day. If you are unsure, decide before November 10. Our pre-load and refund guide goes deeper on that timing, and the release time by timezone shows when your copy goes live.
Take-Two's own caution is worth repeating: pre-orders are cancellable and are not sold units. CEO Strauss Zelnick said on August 7, 2026, "To be clear, we haven't sold one unit yet. You can cancel a preorder," per his remarks that day. For the release date, unlock times and the rest of launch week, see the GTA 6 release date, price and editions guide and the GTA 6 launch hub.
